Born 24th October 1879, in North-West London, Middlesex. The son of Robert and Jane 1858-1906. The family lived at Croydon in Surrey, until about 1887, when the family moved to Battersea (Surrey) South London. Charles went to Battersea Park Road School, aged 7 admission date 11th July 1887.

After his marriage to Alice Maud Grimshaw the daughter of Henry John Lewis Grimshaw a tailor, on the 14th August 1904 at St. Saviour's Church in Battersea, South London. Charles and Alice moved first to 28 Campana Road, Fulham, then into 40 Bronsart Road, Fulham, their had two daughter's Alice Amelia, born in September 1905 and Daisy Dorothy, born late 1909 or early 1910.

Alec Bowles, was born on the 14th December 1894, at Enfield in Middlesex. The son George Henry Albert Bowles born 6th February 1861 at Portsmouth in Hampshire, son of Henry a sailor.
George married Charlotte Jones nee Tyler, on the 5th July 1885 at St. Botolph without Bishopsgate in the City of London. After the death of Charlotte, George married Julia Agnes Bowles on the 28th October 1899 at St. Mary's the Boltons West Brompton, Chelsea London. George died on the 1st June 1923 at Port Moody in Canada.
Albert Bowles, brother of Alex was born the 17th September 1883 at Stone in Kent, he moved to Canada in 1905, and committed suicide on the 28th December 1925, at Anyox in Canada. Verdict of the jury at his inquest was death by hanging himself, while temporarily insane.
Julia Agnes Bowles, born 22nd February 1867, died 14th July 1956 at Oakhurst Nursing Home in Vancouver Canada.
