David Bread was born about 1831 at Marston in Bedfordshire the son of Samuel and Susannah.

Bedford 3rd April 1849, one month hard labour and whipped for receiving stolen goods, (a duck.)
Bedford Assizes 16th July 1850, six months hard labour and twice whipped for larceny; on the 24th June 1850, at Kimbolton, stealing one waistcoat of the value of 7 shillings of goods and chattels of Charles Buck.
Bedford Sessions 1st July 1851, one year with hard labour for stealing a jacket at Elstow, the property of William Curtis, value 2 shillings, one half a crown and sixpence.
Bedford Sessions 19th October 1852 acquitted of larceny; on the 23rd July 1852 at Steppingley, stealing one sleeve waistcoat value 3 shillings and one knife value sixpence the property of James Goodman.
Bedford 3rd September 1853, one month hard labour or pay 8 shilling 8 pence, for maliciously damaging a tree to the value of twopence the property of John Whitehouse.
