On the 12th March 1915, along with Company Sergeant-Major Harry Daniels, at Neuve Chapelle France, he volunteered to cut wire entanglements impeding the battalion's advance. Under heavy machine-gun fire, they succeeded in cutting the wires. They were both wounded, but Noble's wounds to his chest and thigh were fatal and he died the following day.

Born on the 4th June 1891, at Malmesbury Park, Bournemouth in the County of Hampshire, now in Dorset.
The son of Frederick Noble and Hannah Smith who were married at Christchurch Hampshire in 1888.
He joined the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort's Own) No 3697, the 1st April 1910. He was 5ft 8 ½ inches tall, 139 pounds a 33 inch chest, with a fresh complexion, brown eyes and brown hair.
