Emma Field nee Ince 1852-1881:

SINGULAR SUICIDE A woman named Field left her house at Bewdley in the middle of the night last week, and was seen walking in her night-dress and a candle in her hand, towards the Severn. On Tuesday morning her dead body was found in the river. Before jumping into the water herself she threw in a child's clothes, evidently under the impression that it was the infant itself. March / April 1881: Mrs. Field, Emma appears to have been somewhat disturbed in mind lately, owing to her semi-destitution and other causes. A wife and mother of four, the youngest only ten months. Her husband Henry Thomas a carpenter was out of work, Emma moved back in with her mother, while Henry Thomas went away looking for work.
On Monday evening the 4th of April, Emma was seen throwing her baby's clothes into the river Severn, at 3 a. m., the morning of the 5th , with only a nightdress on and candle in hand, and walking to the bank of the Severn, she threw herself in. |

Born Emma Ince, in 1852, Emma was baptised the 27th June 1852 at Ribbesford in the County of Worcestershire. Daughter of Andrew 1820-1879, and Mary. Burial 10th April 1881, at St. Leonard Church, Ribbesford, Worcestershire.
Father: Andrew Ince, was born at Dowles in Shropshire. (Transferred to Worcestershire for administrative purposes in 1895.) Baptised 5th February 1821 at Kidderminster in Worcestershire. The son of Benjamin 1777-1846, and Mary.
Andrew worked with horses all his life, and owner of horses at one time or another. Andrew married Mary Bourne in 1851, a son, William was born the same year, the only other child born to Andrew and Mary, was Emma a year later in June 1852.
In November 1869, he pleaded guilty to riding in a cart without reins, at Rock, on the 11th October 1869, and fined 2s., 6d., and costs. Andrew died in April 1879, his burial was on the 12th April 1879, at St. Leonard Church, Ribbesford in Worcestershire.
Emma Ince aged 21, daughter of Andrew Ince, married Henry Thomas Field, son of James, on the 26th July 1873, at St. John the Baptist Church, Kidderminster in Worcestershire.
Son: James Field b, 1874. Baptised 17th January 1875, at Witton-cum-Twambrooks in Cheshire, m, Emma Alice Powell the daughter of Moses, on the 29th August 1896 at Kidderminster. The marriage don't last long,
and by 1901, James' was living with Emma Shutt and his son Wilfred James Field Shutt, born 13th September 1899, d, 1978, more children with Emma Shutt are Harry b, 21st August 1901, d, 1976 at Kidderminster. Nora b, 14th January 1904, d, 1994. Edith b, 1910, Thomas 1913-1913, boy 1914-1914, Nellie b, 1915, m, Emma Shutt in 1929, d, 1934.

Daughter: Elizabeth Little Field b, 1877 at Kidderminster in the County of Worcestershire, m, Thomas Moule in 1900 at Kidderminster. Moved to New York in Amercia, a son Reginal Thomas was born at Kidderminster in 1902, and Lawrence Victor was born in Canada about 1916.
Daughter: Norah Gertrude Field b, 1880 at Kidderminster in the County of Worcestershire. moved to Canada in 1910, and married Reuben Moraity.
