  Charles James Laffan was born on the 13th June 1863, and baptised 19th July 1863 at Roorkee, Bengal in India. The son of Charles a Private soldier in the 54th Regiment of Foot, and Eliza.

A Cowardly BLOW


 Born James John Malcolm who was baptised on the 11th September 1873 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the County of Northumberland, the son of John Malcolm and Jane Reid
 A boiler-maker, joined  August 1893: 4th Battalion, Essex Regiment, (yearly drill until 1896) 5ft 3 ½ inches, 121 pounds, 34 ½ inch chest, with a ruddy complexion, blue eyes and brown hair, tattoo marks on both forearms, scar on back of scalp.
 James of 42 Cullam Street, the son of James John a Gas-man, married Annie Johnson the daughter of Thomas, on the 15th October 1894.

James Malcolm Visitor married 37 Labourer at Gasworks, Newcastle.
Head of household Herbert Rayment 55 Bricklayer, Romford, Essex.
